VSS201 Tower Climbing Safety

This intensive, field-based 4-hour course bridges the gap between theory and practice. Participants will perform live climbs on an actual tower structure to build muscle memory and confidence. The curriculum focuses on the practical use of fall arrest, restraint positioning, and rope-based controlled descent, providing the essential hands-on training needed for work at heights.

Prerequisite; Fall Protection Authorized User (or equivalent). Participants must have prior experience with fall protection systems, as introductory harness and connector training is not included in this curriculum.

Class Cost: $175

Class Limit: 8 Attendees

Class Duration: 1/2 Day – hours

This fully immersive, hands-on training focuses on the execution of safe vertical and horizontal movement. While ascending and descending a 100ft tower, participants will perform climbing maneuvers in accordance with OSHA and MIOSHA regulations. This high-action format provides students with a foundational understanding of regulatory compliance and the real-world application of working safely at-heights.

Students will engage in practical training exercises while completing simulated work tasks. This class requires students to utilize multiple lanyard and connector options, ensuring they can gain familiarity with a wide variety of fall arrest and restraint systems found in the field.

Practical instruction in controlled descent provides a foundational understanding of rope-based systems. Students will gain hands-on proficiency using a diverse range of descent control devices and integrated fall arrest rope grabs, ensuring they can safely manage vertical transitions in various field conditions.

Participants are required to validate their skills through active equipment inspections, proper harness donning, and the strategic selection of connectors based on the specific requirements of each climb. Successful completion is dependent on the student’s ability to consistently apply these safety protocols in a live environment

Students will master strategic anchor point selection for fall arrest, vertical lifelines, and pulley systems. Practical exercises include the safe use of hand tools at height. Participants will gain hands-on experience rigging and operating bucket-and-rope systems to efficiently transition tools and equipment between the ground and the work platform.

This course equips students with the essential safety foundation needed for a safer, more efficient entry into the workforce.  Completion of this course serves as a strategic stepping stone along the path to more advanced climbing and rescue credentials.

Even if you don’t work at heights, understanding the risks is critical. This session offers safety and purchasing personnel a unique opportunity to see equipment in action, ensuring you make informed decisions about the tools and safety protocols your employees rely on.

This is an intensive, fast-paced course requiring active student participation. Attendees will receive extensive handouts and resources to support their learning during and after the session. A Certificate of Tower Climbing Safety is awarded upon completion.

We handle the paperwork for you. After the training, the employer will receive a certification of training record with student performance and evaluation data. This ensures your training records are always current, organized, and in compliance.
