VSS101 Introduction to Fall Protection – PPE Authorized User

Introduction to Fall Protection is designed for the new employee with no knowledge of basic fall protection or experience working at heights.   This course provides students with the basic fundamentals for proper selection, inspection, use and care of Harnesses, connectors, Lanyards, Lifelines, and deceleration Devices. Including PPE for Eyes, face, Head, Extremities, protective clothing, shields and barriers.  This Course exceeds OSHA CFR 1910.132 (f) and MIOSHA Part 433, Training requirements for employees who are required to use fall protection and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE).  

This course is also a great opportunity for Company personal that may not work at heights but need a better understanding of the terminology, tasks, PPE, and other equipment required for at heights workers to safely and efficiently perform their job. Purchasing department personal would benefit greatly from learning the proper type of equipment required to work at heights.

This 8-hour course begins with classroom lecture incorporating hands on interaction with harnesses, lanyards, connectors, tools, rope and rigging apparatus. Students will be introduced to a variety of different equipment options available for use. Class concludes with students practicing the information learned in class on a 100ft tower.  This course provides students with the basic knowledge needed for a safer transition into the work field and provides an advantage to more advanced certification training.

 Students will receive numerous educational handouts of new climber information and resources to be used during class and future reference for continued learning. Upon successful completion of class students will be awarded with Personal Protective Equipment/ Fall Protection Authorized User Certificate, Student record of evaluation and other pertinent class documents will be sent to employer for certification of training records.  Those who are seeking a basic understanding and not necessarily a career in climbing will be encouraged to climb but not required, if available Company should send Student to class with (1) full body harness, (1) fall arrest 2 leg shock absorbing lanyard and (1) restraint work positioning lanyard. If this equipment is not available contact us prior to registration to check on availability of classroom equipment that can be rented for the duration of training.
